ROYSA Fields Update

In 2014 ROYSA conducted a survey of our families in an effort to identify the areas in which we could improve. The response was encouraging and demonstrated the strong community support we enjoy.

One of the items almost universally requested was that our fields be improved. Based on your requests, we are proud to announce that the City of Royal Oak, ROYSA and Worry Free Landscaping have developed a unique relationship that allows us all to partner in fields maintenance.

Here is the truly exciting part for you as ROYSA families. For the first time ever, ROYSA will be providing mowed and maintained designated practice areas, for house teams only, throughout the City. These fields will be provided at Dickinson, Sullivan, Exchange, Kenwood and Hudson parks. Teams are encouraged to use these spaces but are not required to. There are many other very wonderful parks in Royal Oak to choose from.

ROYSA will take over the maintenance of the game fields at Quickstad Park.  The City has also approved the use of Normandy Oaks Park (the former golf course) for ROYSA use. ROYSA will open the gates every day at about 3:30 PM and will lock them again at sun-down. Feel free to use this space to practice.

Please remember that all parks are still City of Royal Oak property, and as such, they need to be shared with all residents. Please refrain from interfering in any way with the ROSL baseball teams.

PLEASE DO NOT use game fields for practice. Efforts are being made to get a goal placed at each of the practice fields for shooting practice. ROYSA is also in need of additional volunteers to set up and line practice fields.  If you would like to volunteer for fields or any other matter, please email info@roysa.com.   Volunteers are critical to our continued success.

Each team is permitted to schedule one scrimmage on a game field each season. Coaches must email RecDM@roysa.com and scheduler@roysa.com for approval (and to avoid conflicts with other scheduled teams) and then check the website for field closings before the scrimmage.
