Recreational Soccer

The Royal Oak Youth Soccer Association has been serving our community for 40 years. ROYSA is the 3rd largest club in the state of Michigan, providing a recreational program as well as a premier program.  ROYSA has over 2,000 players participating each season in the recreational program.

The mission of the recreational program is to enable players to learn the game of soccer in a fun and stimulating environment.  Players will develop their skills while maintaining a healthy approach to soccer.

Programs are available for ages 3 & Up (D.O.B. 7/31/2014 and older) ranging from the Little Renegades up to 19 years old.  Each age group has a boys and girls division, but girls can play in the boys division.  There are two seasons, one in the Fall and one in the Spring.

Registration for the Fall 2017 recreational soccer opens May 15th and will remain open until July 31st, but if you want to guarantee that you are returned to your same team then you must register by July 1st. Late registration commences on August 8th and will only be used to fill open spots on existing teams.  A $20 late fee will apply.  Late registration is subject to early closure as teams reach roster capacity.

To register, click on the Register Now button at the bottom of this page. If you have any problems registering, please call Blue Sombrero customer support at 866-981-2583.

Please note if you do not get a confirmation e-mail, you are not registered.

A few other important notes:

-  All players registering prior to July 1st will be returned to their teams unless otherwise indicated during the registration questionnaire.

-  Your child should play in their grade specific division.

-  Our soccer year is broken up into two seasons - Fall & Spring.  Your child will play in this division for both seasons and then move up to the next age division in Fall of 2018.

-  Your child will be placed on a team pursuant to the ROYSA Operating Rules Section 2.05.05.  Player placement is based on age, grade and school attending.

-  Most games are scheduled on weekends, with occasional weeknight games.  There is usually one or two practices per week on weekdays that will be determined by your coach.   ROYSA does not know what day each coach will select for practice

- You will be contacted prior to the start of your season by your coach with details, instructions and schedules.  Please be patient as ROYSA is busy forming teams.

- If you are a current ROYSA player and would like your child be transferred to a specific team, you must fill out the Player Transfer Request Form.  Specific requests will not be considered without this form.  All requests are subject to ROYSA Board of Directors approval upon receipt of transfer form.

Just a reminder of the refund policy that is also mentioned in your confirmation e-mail:

REFUND POLICY: Refunds of registration fees will be given if requested in writing by March 1 for the Spring Season and August 1 for the Fall Season, less an administrative fee of $10.00.  No other refunds after those dates will be granted except under unusual circumstances as determined by the Board of Directors.
